Another very intersting finding showing the duality of dysregulated host response in Covid 19 : insufficient (regarding type I IFN) in some patients during the viral/initial phase and hyperinflammatory in some patients leading to parenchymatous and vascular lung damage. A link could be found with the results of RECOVERY published yesterday with benefit of dexamethasone during the hyperinflammatory phase and potential harm of dexamethasone in non-oxygenodependent patients, in which the drug can further impair type I IFN response.
